Winter Sports

Men's Basketball
The Eagles finished their season with a record of 18-7. They finished their season as HCC Champions and sectional runner-ups. They won their first round of sectionals vs. Harrison on February 28th. Don't call it an upset! The Eagles then defeated the No. 3 ranked Logansport (23-1) to move on to the championship of sectional 7. They were unable to defeat the Mavericks of McCutcheon on March 4th and ended their season with a tough loss 47-61. Congrats on a good season!

Girl's Basketball
The Girl's basketball team had a very successful season. They were HCC Champions and Sectional Champions. They finished their season with a 25-2 record after losing in the regional semifinals to Homestead on Saturday Feb. 11th. Homestead went on to become the 2017 4A IHSAA State Champions. Congratulations to the Lady Eagles on an extremely successful season and good luck in the future!

Swimming/Diving

The girl's swim team finished their season with a 10th place finish in the IHSAA State Finals. Junior Tessa Wrightson led the way for the Eagles finishing 2nd in the 50 Freestyle and 3rd in the 100 backstroke



The boy's swim team finished their season off on Saturday February 25th with their 3rd State Runner-Up in a row. Here is a list of top individual finishers: 

-200 Medley Relay 1:29.44 (State Record)

-Tyler Harmon 3rd in 200 freestyle

-Andrew Schuler 3rd in 200 IM

-Jack Franzman back-to-back 50 Free (20.00)

      -State record in prelims of 19.85

-Andrew Schuler 3rd in 100 Butterfly

-Jack Franzman 2nd in 100 free

-Tyler Harmon 2nd in 100 Backstroke

-Brock Brown 3rd in 100 Breast

-2nd in 400 Free Relay

-1st in 200 Medley Relay (1:29.44)

       -New Public School National Record

Wrestling

The wrestling team was successful this year. The team sent 8 individuals onto the regionals to start off the 2017 IHSAA State Tournament. This included 3 sectional champions (Thomas Penola, Matt Wertz, and Kody Wagner). All 8 contending in regionals are now headed to semi-state. Among these were 4 regional champions (Thomas Penola, Matt Wertz, Kody Wagner, and Drew Williamson). They sent one Eagle (Matt Wertz) onto the State Finals who lost in the first round at Bankers Life.
