Teacher's Assistant

Teacher's Assistant 24-25 Semester 2
  • If you would like to be a teacher’s assistant for second semester, please see the information below:
    • Study halls are valuable opportunities to gain extra study time, seek extra help and to minimize homework.  Students should consider these benefits carefully before requesting to serve as a teacher's assistant.
  • Being a teacher’s assistant is a privilege. Therefore, the students should be models for other students in the building and maintain solid academic performance along with a consistent record of making good choices.
    • In order to be eligible for a TA period, students must meet the following requirements:
      • Grades: Students are expected to maintain grades in each of their classes at a C- (70%) or higher throughout the entirety of the academic year. This will be verified at the end of each semester and will determine your eligibility to continue. Teacher's assistants who are returning to study hall for academic reasons may reapply to serve as a teacher's assistant after the next semester’s grades have been finalized. Semester 1 grades will be used to determine Semester 2 eligibility.
      • Discipline: Please make sure you are consistently making good choices and arriving on time to your classes each and every day. Students who receive a 2-hour detention or any consequence that administration deems equivalent or greater will be asked to return to study hall immediately following the assignment of that consequence and will not be eligible until semester break to reapply. Depending on the severity and/or timing of the referral, students may lose the future privilege of serving as a teacher's assistant.
      • Disposition: Students who serve as teacher’s assistants must maintain a positive relationship with their supervising teacher. Students who have been found to not be in their assigned location during their teacher assistant period or students who no longer have the continued approval of their supervising teacher will be asked to return to study hall immediately. Teacher's assistants who are returning to study hall by their supervising teacher may not reapply to serve as a teacher's assistant until semester break.
      • Location:  Students serving as TAs will remain in the teacher’s classroom at all times.
      • Parent/Caregiver Approval: If your parents/caregivers do not wish for you to be a TA, they can email your school counselor, who will keep you in a study hall.
  • Please follow the process below if you are interested in becoming a TA:
    • Speak with the teacher for whom you are interested in being a TA.  Remember, each teacher is only able to have 2 TAs per period.
    • If they agree to have you, complete this Google Form by Friday, December 13, 2024.  Any requests made after 12/13/24 will not be considered.
    • If the teacher has approved for you to be one of their allotted 2 TAs per period, ZCHS will change your schedule to reflect a TA prior to the start of S2.
    • Once grades are finalized, ZCHS will run a report of your semester 1 grades.  If you have a grade lower than a C-, your counselor will contact you to let you know you will be switched back to study hall.
