I will be showing you how to use snap and read on the web and within word snapping breed is a text reader provided by John Johnston products thanks for Community School students and staff can you use the extension for free through the patents aiming for achievement Grant let me show you on a website how this work clear the top or my extension icon and this one is my snap and read if you do not have this on your device you can either reach out to a teacher or administrator and ask for directions on how to download this using your Workhorse to mail account I am going to click on it and toggle it on before I leave this I'm going to choose remove distractions and you will see what it does to the website content it'll make words easier to read and remove the distractions from the website let me show you the features of the toolbar here on the right hand side the first one is the speak icon and this is the text reader that you used most of the time information by clicking and starting or if you want to just choose one specific area you can highlight it and didn't choose the speaker icon and it will just read that graph or information that you have selected you can still turn it off and it will stop you can come to text that's embedded I will not read and that's when you can use the second Ikon the Screenshot Reader so how it works does it you turn it on and then you left click and capture the information and then it will basically oh Ciara turn that into text and then use the re set the top to read the information back to you you can also use this in words so if your student wrote a document in Word and then listen to David Britton you can use the Screenshot Reader to capture that text and it will read the information from word as well now you can tell when I come back and have to go back distraction that does not stay in the settings feature is to simplify vocabulary so let's click on it and it will change some of the words to easier words the change be italicized still a cruel and I'll give you some different choices I have added the translate feature on through my options section so when I go into options I have toggled on my translate into German what that allows is for you to have your whole document or just portions of it translated into a different language that is not something that you need you don't need to toggle it on and it will not be on your toolbar this is a cover overlay is your reading as you go along I'm moving my mouse and it moves the line you can also use it with feature it's kind of nice to go to that played together nicely at the bottom is an outline feature that if you were research project and it was on the planet in your using multiple websites you could create an outline so you would just go down and say it was on Neptune so who is this which is our capture text highlight the information and it shoots it over into our outline and you can save this you can also print it or you can download it it's nice inside it does Source it for you so that you could go back and find it after you have gathered the information now when you go into options can I show you just a couple of features if the reader is reading fastest is where you can change the speed or you can slow it down you can change the volume in the pitch you can also change the Highlight background color so I'll change it when we go back you can see you can change the text color hear it allows you to change the overlay and the reading guide colors that I was going to show you is the dictionary so I have my dictionary toggled on slipped go back to this and Steelers feature changes first UK see that it now is highlighting and a reddish pink next thing is if I'm on this word and I double click with my mouse Give me the definition of the word because I turned on my dictionary feature so that's a pretty cool to all that it also has built into it happen reader CVS from choose your device and then find that PDS I'm going to choose this one and open it and stopping read will work within a PDF so for example up here this is a worksheet that a teacher gave slit a or put it on canvas I now have it on my device I pull it up through my snap and read icon and I can have it read aloud to me I think that's one of my favorite features is having it read a PDF now if you also have a worksheet that needs to be edited you can click on the photo edit cancel icon and then the first blue circles it appears click and it will give you a text back for now you can type on your PDF and if you are a co-writer user you can turn writer and you also have access to your co-writer while in a TDS the did the tile with SNAP and read Works in word and fine I hope that you find these to be helpful tools
