Symphonic Band

SYMPHONIC BAND (ADVANCED CONCERT BAND SY): This performance ensemble is open to students in grades 10 -12.  The primary goal of this course is to teach students authentic, performance-based musical skills.  Ensemble and solo activities are designed to develop elements of musicianship including, but not limited to, (1) tone production, (2) technical skills, (3) intonation, (4) music reading skills, (5) listening skills, (6) analyzing music, and (7) studying historically significant styles of band literature.  The curriculum also includes but is not limited to: marching band performances throughout the fall, concerts throughout the academic year, ISSMA organized performances, performances at community related events as well as school related events such as parades, basketball games, pep sessions and commencement ceremonies. The Symphonic Band includes a marching band requirement unless a student has a valid conflict with the marching band season, such as a ZCHS fall sport.  Students that are unable to participate in the marching band due to a valid conflict are still eligible for this course, but are excused from all marching band commitments.
