Advanced Science- Scientific Ethics

ADVANCED SCIENCE-SCIENTIFIC ETHICS:     This course explores ethical questions related to the sciences. Students will analyze ethical issues in science that governments, organizations, and communities must face when considering how best to use new scientific knowledge and innovations.  This course is designed to help students improve critical reasoning skills and to prepare students to make informed scientific choices as adults in the 21st century.  Potential topics may include:  stem cells, genetically modified organisms, endangered species, cloning, in vitro fertilization, organ transplants, emerging diseases, animal testing, transgenics, gene therapy, antibiotics and vaccines, biofuel, and end of life.
