Entrepreneurship and New Ventures

ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND NEW VENTURES Capstone:   

This year-long  class is a specialized business course designed to enable students to acquire the knowledge and develop the skills needed to effectively organize, develop, create, and manage their own business.  The class will provide core content application to all entrepreneurial ventures regardless of the nature of a product.  Topics addressed include the assessment of entrepreneurial skills, leadership roles, the importance of business ethics, and the role of entrepreneurs in a free enterprise system.  Also, topics of government and legal restrictions, intellectual property, franchising location, basic business accounting, raising startup funding, sales and revenue forecasting, and business plan development will be presented through extensive use of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software. Instruction will combine discussion with on-hands application, in addition to real-world simulations and creation of a written business plan. 

 

Dual Credit

Entrepreneurship provides opportunity to earn dual credit with Indiana’s 2-year College, Ivy Tech.  Please contact the Entrepreneurship Instructor or your counselor for more details.
