Ceramics I
CERAMICS I: Students will experience the designing, forming, and finishing processes of clay. This will include basic hand building methods (not potter’s wheel), glaze and slip application, and firing procedures. Design fundamentals will be stressed as well as exposure to ceramic traditions and trends worldwide, both past and present. Problem solving and creative thinking skills are also emphasized. Students will be responsible for developing an online portfolio to showcase their work and will be accompanied with written artist statements. Sketchbook and research assignments are a part of this course. Completion of this course serves as a prerequisite for Ceramics II.
