Art Club is designed for all levels of creative students.  We work with a variety of materials that students are interested in experiencing for the first time.  Students suggest future projects and plan out all of the demonstrations for the club meetings.  Art Club also loves to work outside of the classroom on community murals or props for organizations needing a little extra creativity.  Art Club meets every other Wednesday from 3:40 - 4:30. Best Buddies is a club that builds one – one friendships between people with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities. Through their participation in the Best Buddies Club, people with intellectual and developmental disabilities form meaningful connections with their peers, gain self-confidence and self-esteem and share interests, experiences and activities that many other individuals enjoy. We have grown to be the largest Best Buddies Club in Indiana by having club members who are sincere in making sure the Buddies have a positive experience and are included in everyday life experiences.

The ZCHS Book Club allows students to meet with their peers in a relaxed and respectful atmosphere to discuss books and socialize. Members share viewpoints, ideas, and experiences during the book discussions. The club meets the second Wednesday of each month after school in the media center from 3:45 - 4:45.

Any student is welcome to participate in Book Club or come to listen in on the discussions, and members need not read every book or come to every meeting in order to be a part of the club. 

Books are selected by members, and we read about 8 books throughout the course of the school year, including adult and young adult fiction and nonfiction titles in a variety of genres. Copies are provided to members to borrow for free as part of a membership with the Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Library.

Debate is a club that meets August-February and competes in debate competitions that range in style from Lincoln Douglas, to Congress, to Public Forum and beyond. Debate team members practice their debate skills weekly and work with teammates to hone in on their skills and create meaningful and powerful arguments to use in competitions. Debate team has monthly competitions culminating with a state tournament and all students participating in debate learn how to appropriately communicate with opponents, how to keep calm in the face of an intense debate, and how to encourage teammates.

The EKOM's plan the Freshman Kick Off day for all Freshmen and new students in August.  The EKOM's also have one follow-up with Freshmen early in the year to check on their progress.  In addition, some EKOM's volunteer to connect 1 on 1 with Freshman students that are struggling in one way or another.

The application to become an EKOM club member occurs in the spring of the year and is open to all incoming Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors.

Entrepreneurship club is a place for people who have started a business, are wanting to start a business, and for those interested in or curious about developing businesses and making change. The club attends numerous virtual and in-person pitch and entrepreneurship competitions where members can make money and win scholarships. The Jr. Optimist Club is a service club that does various projects throughout the year. The primary goals of the club are community service and leadership development. Description 

In the Model UN club, students role-play various countries in the world. They learn about the history, politics, and foreign policies of several countries and begin to understand the importance of the United Nations in the world today. Students become familiar with several international problems or issues and experience the give and take of diplomacy as they attempt to pass resolutions in their councils. The model provides an opportunity for them to improve their public speaking and debate skills and to learn some parliamentary procedure, as well as how to learn how to work constructively in a group. National Honor Society is a service- and scholarship-based organization for high school juniors and seniors, founded upon the four pillars of Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character.  Students are eligible to apply in the second semester of their sophomore or junior year.  The application process typically opens in late February/early March, and students can find all NHS information in the Modules of their grade-level Canvas pages.  As the time for application nears, there will be announcements over the school PA, information posted on school bulletin boards, and an informational callout meeting held at school.

Quiz Bowl is Jeopardy-type academic competition.  ZCHS competes against local teams and placed first in our White River Academic League in 2014 and fourth-place in the state tournament.  A subset of the team participates on the Brain Game, sponsored by Westfield Insurance, which is televised locally by WTHR Channel 13.  ZCHS was a finalist in 2015, winning a $3,000 prize for the school.

Rho Kappa Social Studies Honor Society is the only national organization for high school juniors and seniors that recognizes excellence in the field of Social Studies.
