Percussion Ensemble

PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE: This performance ensemble is open to students in grades 10 -12.  (9th grade percussionists that participate in March Band will be eligible for this course.)  The primary goal of this course is to teach students authentic, performance-based musical skills.  Ensemble and solo activities are designed to develop elements of musicianship including, but not limited to, (1) tone production, (2) technical skills, (3) intonation, (4) music reading skills, (5) listening skills, (6) analyzing music, and (7) studying historically significant styles of band literature.  The curriculum also includes but is not limited to: marching band performances throughout the fall, concerts throughout the academic year, ISSMA organized performances, performances at community related events as well as school related events such as parades, basketball games, pep sessions and commencement ceremonies. Percussion Ensemble includes a marching band requirement.
