Customized Learning Program Specific Elective Courses

Customized Learning Career Information and Exploration-(State Code: 0522 Multidisciplinary) CCR

College and Career Readiness (CCR)-Monitored by CLP Instructors

Career Information and Exploration provides students with opportunities to learn about themselves including interests, strengths and needed supports while exploring various traditional and nontraditional occupations and careers. Students develop skills in: (1) employability, (2) understanding the economic process, and (2) career decision making and planning. Opportunities are provided for students to observe and participate in various job situations through opportunities such as community based instruction, internships, mock interviews, and guest speakers.

Portfolio and resume development experience and career-related assessments may also be provided to students.  This class will meet daily.

Customized Learning Community Service (State code: 0524A Multidisciplinary) Community Service

Community Service-Monitored by Dr. Chisley only

Community Service is a course created by public law IC 20-30-14, allowing juniors and seniors the opportunity to earn up to two high school credits for completion of approved community service projects or volunteer service that “relates to a course in which the student is enrolled or intends to enroll.

Each CLP Zionsville High School student who is a part of the Customized Learning Program will earn credit for community service or volunteer service under the Indiana state law, the program director will submit paperwork, grades, and documentation the experiences to the high school administration.  These experiences will occur weekly. 48 hours= 1 credit per semester

Customized Learning Work Based Learning (State code: 0530 Multidisciplinary) Career Exploration Internship

Worked Based Experiences-Monitored by Dr. Chisley only

The Program Director for Customized Learning will work use the multidisciplinary course description to ensure that the state standards and course requirements are implemented as well as properly documented allowing students to earn two credits for working a job. We will be able to allow students to earn 2 credits per semester.(Seniors only can earn up to 3 credits maximum)

This course will be follow state expectations and be based upon student work schedule and Customized Education criteria.  Students will submit documentation of work hours weekly and reflection upon course standards weekly.

Customized Learning Peer Tutoring (State Code: 0520 Multidisciplinary) Peer Tutoring

Peer Tutoring-Monitored by CLP Instructors and Dr. Chisley only

Peer Tutoring provides high school students with an organized exploratory experience to assist students in kindergarten through grade twelve (K-12), through a helping relationship, with their studies and personal growth and development.   The course provides opportunities for the students taking the course to develop a basic understanding of individual differences and to explore career options in related fields.

Peer Tutoring experiences are preplanned by the teacher trainer and any cooperating teacher under whom the tutoring is to be provided. It must be conducted under the supervision of a licensed teacher.

The course provides a balance of class work relating to the development of and use of several skills as defined in the IN DOE course description.  The Zionsville Customized Learning Program has added three additional skill demonstration requirements. 

Customized Learning College Prep (State Code: 0532 College-Entrance Preparation) College Prep

College-Entrance Preparation utilizes individual student score reports from the PSAT or other formative assessments to prepare students for college readiness assessments such as Indiana’s Graduation Qualifying Exam, the SAT. Based on individual student score reports, students should receive targeted instruction to strengthen their foundations in critical reading, writing, and mathematics.
